About RingPay Wearables

What is a RingPay wearable?

It's a ring, bracelet or keyring with a payment chip inside.

Link it to your bank card, then tap it on any contactless terminal to pay, just like tapping your card.

Who makes RingPay?

RingPay is made by Money Carer, a UK organisation that has spent over 16 years helping people manage their everyday money.

We built RingPay to make paying simpler and safer for everyone.

Do they need charging?

Never. There's no battery inside.

The chip draws a tiny amount of power from the payment terminal each time you tap, so it's always ready.

Are the wearables waterproof?

Yes. With no battery, ports or seals, there's nothing for water to damage. Wear it in the shower, the pool or the rain.

Can the wearable track my location or collect my data?

No. There's no GPS, battery or signal inside, and the chip only wakes up within a few centimetres of a payment terminal.

Your account details are held securely in the RingPay app, as set out in our Privacy Policy.

Paying with your wearable

How do I pay?

Make a loose fist and rest the flat side of your ring on the contactless symbol for a couple of seconds, until the terminal confirms. Bracelets and keyrings work the same way.

The Setup Guide shows exactly how.

Where can I use it?

Anywhere that takes contactless Visa or Mastercard: shops, cafés, restaurants, taxis, vending machines and most public transport.

Do I need my phone with me?

No. Once it's set up, your wearable works on its own. No phone, app or internet connection is needed at the till.

Is there a spending limit?

Your wearable follows the same contactless limit as your bank card (currently £100 per payment in the UK).

Some terminals may ask for your card's PIN on larger payments, or ask you to use your physical card.

Can I use it abroad?

Yes, anywhere that accepts contactless Visa or Mastercard.

Any currency conversion fees are set by your bank, or by Curve if you pay through Curve.

Why didn't my payment go through?

Try holding your wearable flatter against the reader for a little longer, and keep other contactless cards away from it.

If it still doesn't work, check in the RingPay app that your wearable is active and not paused, and that your linked card has funds.

How do refunds work?

Refunds go back to the card linked to your wearable. Some shops may ask you to tap your wearable again to process the refund.

Banks & cards

Will it work with my bank?

RingPay works with Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards from a growing list of banks.

Check our Supported Banks before you order.

What if my bank isn't supported?

You can still use RingPay through Curve, a free app that holds your existing card.

You link your Curve card to your wearable, and Curve charges your usual bank card behind the scenes.

Check out how to set up your curve account here.

What is Curve, and do I need it?

Curve is a free payment app from a separate company. You only need it if your bank isn't directly supported.

Setting up a Curve account may ask for photo ID, so allow a few extra minutes.

Setting up & troubleshooting

How do I set up my wearable?

Download the free RingPay app, check your bank is supported, then pair your wearable and add your card.

Our Setup Guide takes you through each step.

My phone can't find my ring. What should I do?

Take off your phone case, as some block NFC.

On Android, check NFC is switched on in Settings.

Lay the ring on a flat surface and move your phone slowly over it.

The reader is near the top on iPhones and around the middle of the back on most Android phones.

The app says my card can't be added. Why?

Your bank may not be directly supported yet, so check Supported Banks.

If it isn't listed, you can add your card through Curve instead.

If your bank is listed and it still won't add, contact us.

How do I know my wearable is ready to use?

Once setup is complete, the RingPay app will show your wearable as active.

You can then tap to pay straight away.

Sizing & care

How do I find my ring size?

The easiest way is our Ring Sizer, which shows your exact size before you buy.

Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly larger, for the most comfortable fit.

Which finger should I wear it on?

Any finger works.

Most people find the index or middle finger of their main hand easiest for tapping.

What if my ring doesn't fit?

If it's unworn and in its original packaging, you can return it within 14 days of delivery and order the right size.

See our Returns information for more details.

Can I wear it every day, including at the gym?

Yes. It's built for everyday wear, including workouts, swimming and showering.

How do I clean my wearable?

Wash it with warm water, a little mild soap and a soft cloth, then dry it. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners.

Security & lost wearables

How secure is RingPay?

Your real card number is never stored on your wearable. Instead, it carries a unique encrypted code (a token) that only works on that wearable, using the same payment security as a contactless bank card.

I've lost my wearable. What should I do?

Pause it straight away in the RingPay app, so it can't be used.

Your bank card stays active, because the wearable uses its own token rather than your card number.

If you find it, just switch it back on.

Can I permanently remove my card from a wearable?

Yes, this can be removed in the RingPay app.

You can link it again or add a different card at any time.
